NTSB - Varada por error del practico
The probable cause of the grounding of the New Delhi Express was the error of the docking pilot in not using all available resources to determine the vessel’s position as he navigated the Kill Van Kull waterway. Contributing to the cause of the grounding was the failure of both pilots to practice good bridge resource management. The New Delhi Express and two of the three tugs assisting it were damaged in the accident.Etiquetas: MAIB NTSB etc

GPS - Galileo common civil signal

On 26 July 2007, the United States and the European Union announced their agreement to jointly adopt and provide an improved design for their respective Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) signals. These signals will be implemented on the Galileo Open Service and the GPS IIIA new civil signal.
The resulting GPS L1C signal and Galileo L1F signal have been optimized to use a multiplexed binary offset carrier (MBOC) waveform. Future receivers using the MBOC signal should be able to track the GPS and/or Galileo signals with higher accuracy in challenging environments that include multipath, noise, and interference.

Isabel de Villena
Entra en servicio el tercer avión de Salvamento Marítimo, nombrado “Isabel de Villena”. A mediados de junio entró en funcionamiento el “Rosalía de Castro” en la fachada galaico-cantábrica; y el tercero, el “Josefina de la Torre” ya opera en la zona canaria; el PNS contempla un cuarto avión. He said that when it became clear Harwich would want to be paid to continue the service the MCA, following government practice, put the operation of the service out to tender earlier this year. There were only two expressions of interest and no bidders for the contract, with Harwich itself not putting in a bid. The MCA then talked to Harwich about an interim agreement to keep the service going while long term arrangements were put in place but these talks stalled over Harwich's demand for the MCA to indemnify it against possible liability claims which the MCA would not do. Consequently the service stopped.

PALMA.- El buque mercante 'Don Pedro', el que iban 20 personas, se ha hundido cerca del puerto de Ibiza. El barco chocó contra un islote, lo que le produjo una vía de agua. Salvamento Marítimo ha podido rescatar a todos los ocupantes.

28100 trabajando en La Mar, de ellos 13600 son oficiales, y de estos menos de 100 son los oficiales españoles navegando bajo la Red Ensign. La tendencia es a la baja, para 2020 les quedarán unos 7000. El informe del dft en pdf

Un amigo del GPS y la telenavegación, el futuro que va llegandoEn este caso, a falta de cartas apropiadas, un e-mail le sirvió para meter los puntos de recalada, (telenavegación pura). No estaban tan mal, porque fondeo sin mayor contratiempo. Confiando en la situacíon del GPS garrearon por la noche durante la pleamar y desafortunadamente cuando amaneció, el barco estaba varado y con la cadena a la vista sobre la arena. (Vaya armador!! mira que no monitorizar durante la noche el barco en el AIS)

El Ministerio de Fomento mantiene inmovilizado en el puerto de Dénia el barco con el que la naviera Iscomar cubre la ruta con Ibiza tras detectar graves irregularidades relacionadas con la seguridad y la higiene en el ferry, cuya navegación quedó suspendida a las 20 horas del lunes tras una inspección de los técnicos de la Capitanía Marítima de Alicante.Levante

Award for Exceptional Bravery at Sea

Between March 2006 and February 2007, 30,493 migrants were assisted by the Spanish rescue services in the Atlantic and the Mediterranean;

Two officers from the 83,155 dwt Bahamas-registered oil/bulk ore carrier Searose G have been selected to receive the inaugural 2007 IMO Award for Exceptional Bravery at Sea, in recognition of their part in a dramatic rescue in severe weather
The Bahamas-registered Searose G was on passage through the Mediterranean, bound for the Suez Canal, when it responded to a distress call from the Maltese-flagged Teklivka, which was sinking 50 miles south in gale force winds. The Teklivka had sunk when the Searose G reached the scene but a dramatic rescue ensued, with Searose G rescuing nine crew and another vessel picking up three crew members. Tragically, three crew members of the Teklivka were lost.

Particularly Sensitive Sea Areas
Special areas are those which are subject of stricter measures under the 1973 Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL, as amended in 1978).Particularly Sensitive Sea Areas (PSSAs) are areas which need 'special protection through action by IMO because of [their] significance for recognised ecological or socio- economic or scientific reasons and which may be vulnerable to environmental damage by maritime activities' (IMO Guidelines, point 3.1.2).
In addition to the Great Barrier Reef, Particularly Sensitive Sea Areas have been designated to a Cuban archipelago, a sea area off Colombia, the Florida Keys, the Wadden Sea, the Peruvian coast, western European waters, the Torres Strait, the Canary Islands, the Galapagos and the Baltic Sea.

El bulkcarrier de 76741 toneladas de desplazamiento de Lauritzen acabó varado durante un temporal en Newcastle el 8 de junio ya ha sido reflotado. Con 700 toneladas de bunker a bordo, se observa que está vertiendo por ambas bandas, posiblemente por algún desgarro durante el reflotamiento.

Capitanía Marítima advierte de la falta de seguridad en la bocana del puerto de Dénia, www.levante-emv.com
La advertencia recibida por Capitanía Marítima se produce a raíz de un incidente acaecido hace cerca de un mes, el 22 de mayo. Ese día, el centro regional de coordinación de Salvamento Marítimo en Valencia informó a Capitanía de que la presencia de «unas cuantas embarcaciones de vela tripuladas por niños navegando en la bocana de dicho puerto» estaba «interfiriendo con estas maniobras la navegación segura del buque» Bahía de Málaga, de la naviera Baleària, cuando intentaba entrar en el puerto de Dénia.
